Open Source in Israel (10 min.)
Modern web applications have to compete with native application. One key requirement is being able to run without network. This provides great user experience even on flaky connection while improving performance by eliminating reliance on network requests. The most popular way to implement offline support is using Service Workers. However, Service Workers are not available on iOS and there is no indication when will they be available. The other way is AppCache, but the technology is deprecated and has severe limitations. We have created an open source library called capp-cache which leverages IndexedDB as cache and allows creating offline apps in all modern browsers.
